ShowMemory is created by people for people. Success of ShowMemory as an online Platform and as a community of passionate people relies on five simple, but important principles:

RESPECT – any contributions, comments, data, content and information that you publish on ShowMemory becomes immediately visible and available for everyone else to see. Respect each other and respect each other’s work! Offensive or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated.

PROACTIVITY – Do not remain a passive beholder. The more you contribute, the better ShowMemory becomes, day after day. We know, you are very busy creating, producing, operating shows, performing, teaching, watching! But please always remember - the more you give, the richer you become!

INTEGRITY – ShowMemory is about Data and Content. You are free to make your content contributions, but it is your responsibility to protect and preserve the data and content created by the other Users.

AUTHENTICITY - Precision and validity of data and content on ShowMemory will be much better if we all share common responsibility to check, confirm the precision and validity of all contributions that you and the other members of ShowMemory make on the platform. No falsified information or misrepresentation will be tolerated. Please be ready to submit the proof for your contributions if requested by the ShowMemory admins.

INCLUSION – Live entertainment has a thousand faces and facets. ShowMemory does not discriminate. We welcome People, Collectives, Shows and Events from any corner of the world, any ethnicity, gender, language, culture, genre and quality. Categories suggested on the Platform are here to facilitate data entry, but if your discipline, skill set, profession or areal of activity and expertise is missing, contact us and we will add it to the platform. There is only one conditions – ShowMemory is interested in Pereforming arts that are presented in real time for their audience.

General information

Any visitor of ShowMemory can contribute information to the ShowMemory global knowledge base.

You must create an account and be logged in to create new records and add/edit data and content to the existing records at ShowMemory.

Please carefully read and understand the Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy and Content Policy of ShowMemory before making any contribution to ShowMemory.

There are FIVE main types of content that can be created or edited on ShowMemory:

  • Shows
  • Events
  • People (Personalities)
  • Collectives
  • Venues

Before creating any content, you must run a thorough search at ShowMemory to avoid creating duplicate records. Please pay extra attention to the names and titles that use non-Latin alphabet as their language of origin, their spelling and transcript may be different.

You do not need to have complete information before publishing. Start with what you have got and you can complete your submission later, or rely on the other ShowMemory users who will complement the information.

All information must be submitted in English Language. We will be working on a multilingual version of ShowMemory in the future.

Shows

GENERAL

  • Show Title (required field).
  • Show Title in Original Language
  • Tagline
  • Show type (required field)
  • Description – a show synopsis or general information about the project
  • Main poster – an image of the most actual poster. Refer to the Images section of Content Submission Guidelines for more details
  • Company name
  • Premiere date - You can indicate the complete date, or only the year, or the part of the date that is known. If the show has several Premiere dates (e.g., Soft Opening, Media Premiere, World Premiere, etc.), please indicate the most significant date. The other dates can be indicated in the Facts and Details section.
  • Country created – usually the country where the production company is located, or where a significant part of the creation/production process has taken place. You can select several options.
  • Country Presented – you can select one country or several countries where the show was presented. For touring shows it is possible to select an option Worldwide, or one or more Continents. These options are located at the top of the dropdown list.
  • Show Active – Checkbox – This checkbox must be selected if the show is being currently presented, and has not been retired. Active shows will be displayed on the map of shows, and can have a tickets link activated.
  • Is this a Main Show record that has several editions or adaptations? – If this box is checked, it will declare this show as a main (parent) records, and activate a possibility to add multiple other shows as editions. See section EDITIONS AND SEASONS for more details.
  • Language – if the show is using spoken words or sung lyrics, you can select a language. There is an option for Invented Language on top of the list.
  • Production type – this field describes the venue type and the fixed or touring nature of the production.

MEDIA

Posters – you can upload additional or alternative posters. The same poster requirements and standards apply as to the official poster – see the Images Section of the Content Submission guidelines. Fan Art posters are allowed.

Videos – refer to the Video section of the Content Submission Guidelines for more information

Images – any professional quality show performance, creation or backstage images are allowed – for more details see the Images Section of the Content Submission guidelines.

This section can be used for a few different purposes, for example:

Events

GENERAL

  • Event Title (required field).
  • Event Title in Original Language
  • Event type (required field)
  • Event Active
  • Is this a Main Event record that has several editions? – If this box is checked, it will declare this Event as a main (parent) record, and activate a possibility to add multiple other events as “Editions”. See section EDITIONS for more details.
  • Main poster – an image of the most actual poster. Refer to the Images section of Content Submission Guidelines for more details
  • Description – the Event synopsis or general information about the project
  • Start Date
  • End Date
  • Event Producer (optional) – This text filed can list a company or an organization
  • Country – Country of the Event location, Can have several different values if the event is help in several countries simultaneously.
  • City
  • Year established
  • Event Audience
  • Official web links
  • Tickets link

MEDIA

PARTICIPANTS AND AWARDS

  • Participant: Personality, Collective or Show. Search the database of ShowMemory for Personalities, Collectives of Shows and add the names as Participants. If the pages you are looking for are not there – create it!
  • Performance title (optional)
  • Competition Category (optional). If the event includes a competition, indicate the Competition Category. You can create your own values in this field. Example of Competition categories are: “Best Director”, “Junior program”, “Off competition”, etc
  • Nominations and Awards (optional) – if the participant received one or more awards, list them here. If the

People

This section is referred to as Personality.

GENERAL

  • Full name – Use Latin character set with a most common English transcription
  • Main Headshot - For more details about photo upload, see the Images Section of the Content Submission guidelines.
  • Performance Category - Select one or more options that describe the best the skills and professional experience of this Personality.
  • Representing Country – Select one or several countries. Normally, the Personality must be born in country or be a citizen to represent this country.
  • Stage Name - one or more names or pseudonyms that this Personality is known by. If the Full name is the most common name for this Personality, but it is not the real one, the real name at birth can be mentioned in Facts and Details.
  • Place of Birth
  • Date of Birth – you can indidate the complete date of birth or only partial (just the date and the month, or just a year).
  • Is deceased – Checkbox that is only used if the person is deceased.
  • Date of Death - If the “Is deceased” checkbox is selected, the Date of death fields are revealed.
  • Bio
  • Official Web links

MEDIA

  • Headshots – you can upload additional or alternative headshots. The same pheadshot requirements and standards apply as to the main headhsot – see the Images Section of the Content Submission guidelines.
  • Videos – refer to the Video section of the Content Submission Guidelines for more information
  • Images – any professional quality show performance, creation or backstage images are allowed – for more details see the Images Section of the Content Submission guidelines.

FACTS AND DETAILS

This section is dedicated to particular facts about this show, curious details, trivia and the descriptions that do not fit in the other sections of the Show Page. Unlike the Links section, Facts and Details section is dedicated to the content that is stored on ShowMemory directly. It is possible, however, to include hyperlinks in the text that would serve as the proof or as external references for these Facts and Details.

Collectives

Please review the FAQ section for the Definition and examples of Collectives.

GENERAL

  • Collective Name / Title
  • Other Collective a.k.a. names – “Also Known As” names, pseudonyms or previous and alternative names.
  • Main Image. A group Headshot image is preferred, but a group full body shot, or a studio image / stage performance image of professional quality is accepted. For more details about photo upload, see the Images Section of the Content Submission guidelines.
  • Representing Country. Can select several countries from the list.
  • Categories – select performance categories for this Collective.
  • Bio / Description
  • Official Web Links

COLLECTIVE MEMBERS

  • Search personalities - search the database of ShowMemory for Personalities and add the names of performers who participated in this Collective. If the file of this Personality does not exist – Create it!
  • Collective member Role of Function (optional) – This can be the instrument played in the Band or Orchestra, a Voice type, a function in a circus group act, etc…
  • Years as Active Member (optional) – select all the years (full or partial) when this Performer serves as an active member of this Collective

MEDIA

  • Videos – refer to the Video section of the Content Submission Guidelines for more information
  • Images – any professional quality show performance, creation or backstage images are allowed – for more details see the Images Section of the Content Submission guidelines.

FACTS AND DETAILS

Venues

Please review the FAQ section for the Definition and examples of Collectives.

GENERAL

  • Venue Title
  • Main Venue Image. As a preference, the image must display the façade or the general view of the building of the Venue. If not possible (e.g., a theatre that is located inside another venue and does not have its dedicated building, an image of the theatre auditorium is acceptable. The image will be displayed as a Poster (vertical orientation). For more details about image upload, see the Images Section of the Content Submission guidelines.
  • Venue Type
  • Venue title in the Native Language
  • Alternative Venue Titles - you can list previous titles, or commonly used nicknames for this Venue
  • Country – select from the list
  • City
  • Venue Location – search the Google database for venues or input the Venue address. This location will be used to display this Venue on the map.
  • Opened – indicate the full date or just the year when the Venue was opened. For the Venues that were remodeled and repurposed (e.g. a Cinema into a Theatre or a Cathedral into a Theatre), indicate the date when the Venue started to be used for Performing Arts.
  • Audience Capacity – indicate one or more numbers of the available audience capacity.
  • Venue Active – Checkbox. If selected, the Venue will be displayed on the Map.

MEDIA

  • You can upload images for this Venue. The images may include the building, façade, outside view, night view, auditorium, lobby (foyer), seating plan, construction or historical images, notable events. Refrain from publishing images with audience or particular show set. The venue images must be neutral and not related to any particular show.

In the View Mode the Venue Section also displays two Tabs:

  • Shows at this Venue
  • Events at this Venue

These tabs are populated with lists of Shows and Events that are linked to this Venue from their respective Show / Event pages.

Images

Each time when you are uploading an image, we ask you to fill out three fields:

GENERAL

  • Image (Poster) Author / Copyright : Please indicate the author or the rights owner of this image or poster. It can be the name of the Photographer, a Company, a Media or another copyright owner. If this is the image that you took or you own, please indicate your name.
  • Image (Poster) Source / Courtesy of: Please indicate the source when this image was taken from. The Source can be a text or an URL (Hyperlink). If you received permission to publish this image on Showmemory from it’s Auther or copyright holder, indicate who gave you this permission.
  • Image (Poster) Permission : Choose one of two options: 1) I own or have permission to use the image, or 2) The image was sourced from Third Party.

The valued entered in the two mandatory fields – Author/Copyright and Source/Courtesy of will be published on ShowMemory.

The Image Permissions field is stored in the ShowMemory servers as reference.

Please refer to the ShowMemory Content Policy for more details about the way we collect and use content.

Image format and specifications:

  • You can upload two types of image files: jpg and png.
  • The maximum allowed file size of a single image file is 10 Mb.
  • There is no minimal resolution for images, but recommended minimal dimensions are 800 px at the shorter edge of the image.

Poster Image

We understand that there is no single accepted Poster Image specification or aspect ratio in the Performing arts and Live Entertainment. ShowMemory is using the most commonly used standard poster vertical (portrait) orientation. The recommended aspect ratio is between 0.690 and 0.690.

The poster consists of an Artwork and the Show Title (Event Title). The text of the poster should be entirely visible and not cropped after the poster has been uploaded on to the Platform. The Poster can include the presenting Company Name and the Tagline.

For Events, a Poster can include the dates and the Venue location.

Videos

ShowMemory does not host any videos on the Platform.

You may add links to videos published on Youtube and Vimeo.

After pasting a link, click on “Add Info” button to save the changes.

What is allowed : Trailers, any videos from the official channels, including back stage, making of, promotional or there, TV appearances, special performances and presentations and other relevant content.

What is NOT ALLOWED : Video links from non-official channels, audience member videos, pirated videos, bloopers and accidents.

If you see the link that is inactive, please remove it.

If you see a video that is inappropriate or illegal, do not delete it, report it using “Send Feedback” form.

Tickets

Active Ticketed Shows and Events may have a link that will provide direct access to the official box office.

ShowMemory does not guarantee validity of the ticket links or that the tickets will be available for purchase at the time of visit.

Certain ticket links may be published on ShowMemory as part of the affiliate program with the ticketing platforms, and might include ShowMemory affiliate commission.
